Sustainability assurances

Our fisheries are widely acknowledged around the world as responsibly and sustainably managed. All four of our fisheries, the Eastern Bering Sea Alaska pollock fishery (2005, 2010, 2016), the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands Pacific cod fishery (2010, 2015), the Pacific hake (whiting) fishery (2009, 2014) and the Eastern Bering Sea yellowfin sole fishery (2009, 2015) have been certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). In its re-certification in 2010, the Eastern Bering Sea Pollock fishery received the highest score of all groundfish fisheries world-wide that have obtained MSC certification (see inset chart). In addition to the validation received from the MSC, all of our Alaskan fisheries, the Eastern Bering Sea Alaska pollock fishery, the Eastern Bering Sea yellowfin sole fishery and the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands Pacific cod fishery have been certified as “responsibly managed” by the Global Trust under a program administered by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute.
